4.2.0 (October 2026)
A larger release: Auto Calibration is reworked with built-in safety guards, Home All is faster and can recover from jammed print heads, and Steps per mm Mode now works.
New Features
- Auto Calibration asks at the start of tool height calibration whether to run the nozzle height alignment for Mirror and Duplicate mode (Run or Skip). The multi-color tool offset is measured either way.
- Auto Calibration shows a short result pop-up after each stage (tool height, Z-offset, mesh, XY squaring and XY offset), and the final Calibration Complete summary now lists Tool Height Offset, T1 Z-Offset, Probe Z-Offset, T1 Y-Offset, T1 U-Offset, XY Skew and Mesh Comp. Stages that did not run show Skipped.
- Auto Calibration writes its progress to the console ("Tool Height 1/3: Bed leveling...", "Calibrating XY tool offsets...", and so on).
- Steps per mm Mode is no longer "Feature Not Available". It now lets you set the steps per mm of X, Y, U, the extruders and Z by hand, either by typing a value or by entering the expected and measured length. Values more than 5% away from the factory setting are rejected, and the macro cannot run during a print. See Macros.
- Home All now homes X and U at the same time after Y, instead of one after the other.
- Home Y detects print heads that are jammed against each other. During Home All it separates them and homes Y again once, and stops with Y squaring blocked again after separating the print heads if they are still jammed. If Home Y was started on its own, it stops with Y squaring blocked: the print heads are jammed. Run a full G28 to separate them.
- Bed levelling (G32) now probes eight points instead of four, two in each corner, which makes the plate fit less sensitive to a local dent or bump.
- After the mesh is built at the start of a print, the final Z reference is now averaged from five probe points around the print centre instead of a single touch.
- At startup the printer now waits for expansion board 1 (EXP3HC) to be ready instead of waiting a fixed 2 seconds. If it is not ready, the printer resets it once and, if that fails, shows CAN board 1 not ready with the reason and stops starting up.
- The machine name set with Change Machine's Name is now also the name of the Wi-Fi access point. Enable WiFi - Access Point Mode and Reset Network Settings use the saved machine name as the network name instead of always "22 IDEX".
Fixes
- When Auto Calibration fails or is cancelled, the heaters are now switched off, the build plate is raised, the probe and Z limits are restored, and a pop-up explains the cause. Previously the tools stayed at calibration temperature and the Z limits stayed lowered.
- Auto Calibration now backs up the Z-offset and Tool 1 Z-offset, sets them to safe values for the measurement, and restores the backup if the run is aborted or the printer loses power. A Z Offsets Restored message appears the next time the printer starts or a print is started.
- The nozzle contact circuit is now guarded during calibration moves. If a nozzle touches the plate or a brush where it should not, calibration stops with a clear message (for example Nozzle Contact During Travel) instead of dragging the nozzle across the plate.
- A measured Z-offset outside 6 to 14 mm, or a Tool 1 Z-offset beyond 2 mm, is no longer saved. Save Current Z - Offset applies the same check and warns when the value is below 9 mm.
- If the Z probe stays stuck on the print head after being placed in its dock at the start of a print, the printer now heats the nozzles to the print temperatures, retracts the filament and retries, up to three more times with cooler nozzles, before asking you to remove the probe by hand (Probe Stuck). Outside a print start, for example during Auto Calibration, it stops with Probe Stuck right away.
- Probe pick-up, probe placement, homing and bed levelling failures during Auto Calibration now stop with a specific pop-up (Probe Not Picked, Probe Not Connected, Probe Still Connected, Homing Failed, Bed Levelling Failed).
- A heater fault that is active when a paused print is resumed is now reset, and the print continues with a Heater Fault Reset message. Always find the cause of the fault.
- If an over-the-air update could not overwrite
daemon.gand left adaemon.g.partfile, the printer now finishes the replacement at the next start. - The chamber fan control no longer reports an error when the chamber temperature sensor is not recognised. It skips the cycle and records the event in the event log.
- The factory HEPA fan preset is now 50%, down from 75%.
- Replaced the nozzle contact search in the probing macros with one that ignores a contact that was already closed when the move started, which removes false triggers.
4.1.8 (September 2026)
Fixes
- Fixed the build plate sagging on the second and later prints after the printer is switched on. Home Y, XY Squaring, and the QC test macros re-applied the motor idle current setting, which could leave the Z motors running at reduced current; they no longer do.
- Fixed the build plate dropping at the rear when a job starts: the Z motors are no longer switched off before homing, which let the rear leadscrew turn under the weight of the bed.
- Motor Direction and XY Auto Squaring now move one leadscrew at a time while all three Z motors stay powered, instead of temporarily switching the other two off.
- Z motor current reductions left behind by an interrupted calibration macro are now reset at the start of every job.
- Removed the Cancel button from the Position Build Plate dialog in Z - Binding and Z screws fixing, where cancelling left Movement Without Homing enabled and the Z motor current reduced.
- Z screws fixing no longer reduces the Z motor current while the build plate is being positioned.
- Re-sliced the XY Squaring test print so its diagonals are again filled along their length, as in the original; the 4.1.7 re-slice had filled them with lines along the X and Y axes.
4.1.7 (September 2026)
Fixes
- Fixed Bed Dance creating its compensation axes as hidden, which caused every move for those axes to be discarded and drove the bed from a single leadscrew instead of all three.
- Updated the direct wiki links in popup messages to point to the new wiki.
- Fixed tool change macros driving the heads into walls when Movement Without Homing was enabled.
- Re-sliced the XY Squaring and Pressure Advance test prints with the current slicer profile bundle.
- Movement Without Homing now turns itself off at the start and end of a job, when a job is cancelled, and after Home All, instead of staying on until the next power cycle.
- Home X and Home U now reference Y first when it is not homed, instead of moving the crossbar to an unknown position.
- Home Z no longer runs a full bed levelling pass first, so it only takes a Z reference.
4.1.6 (August 2026)
Fixes
- Tool Height Auto Calibration now reads the actual user position instead of the raw machine position, so tool offsets and babysteps are no longer ignored - previously this could produce invalid calibration moves.
- The minimum Z limit was lowered so tool height calibration keeps working even with a very low probe Z offset.
- The shipped default probe Z offset is now standardized.
4.1.5 (July 2026)
Fixes
- Heat soak is now correctly skipped when the chamber wait is overridden with Start Now - both after the chamber heating-rate warning and after the wait timeout.
- Firmware release archives are now packaged without compression.
4.1.4 (July 2026)
Fixes
- Tool change macros no longer re-apply the Z-axis travel limits. Re-applying them reset the minimum to 0 and prevented the bed from reaching negative coordinates during tool height calibration.
4.1.3 (July 2026)
Fixes
- Z and the hidden V/W/A compensation axes are now recreated at the start of every print, together with the Z motor settings and travel limits. This fixes the bed drift caused by
compensatex.gbed tilting.
4.1.2 (June 2026)
Fixes
- Replaced the
roundfunction in PID Tuning Hotend - it is only available in RRF 3.6.0 and later. - Fixed the Z limits in XY - Offset Calibration that prevented the nozzle from entering the bed hole.
4.1.1 (June 2026)
Fixes
- Reverted the DWC Z-axis move step from 5 back to 25 mm.
4.1.0 (June 2026)
A major restructuring release. On the first boot after updating, the printer detects the old file structure and runs the migration automatically.
Architecture
- Restructured user config storage: all user files moved from
/user/to/sys/user/variables/(calibration values) and/sys/user/actions/(runnable commands), clearly separating persistent state from executable G-code. - Centralized globals: global variable declarations moved to
/sys/globals.g, included fromconfig.g.
New Features
- Auto-upgrade:
config.grunsversion.g, which detects a missing/sys/user/structure and automatically starts the migration on first boot. - Migration macro: moves user files from the old paths to the new structure, resets a subset of settings to defaults, shows a stats popup on completion, then restarts the printer.
- Version tracking:
version.gwrites the current firmware version to/sys/version.txt;SlicerSyncVersion.gtracks the slicer version in/sys/slicer/version.txt. - The Check Firmware macro now reports RRF firmware (main board, expansion, Wi-Fi), macro version, and slicer version.
- 3-tier fault detection settings for the bed and chamber heaters, with safety disclaimers.
PID Tuning
- Unified PID tuning macros with improved error handling, fault re-check after reset, and LED phase indicators.
- Added chamber pre-heating for high-temp tuning, CSV logging at a 1 second interval, and TXT parameter snapshots.
- Fixed the cooldown threshold, homing outside the chamber block, and LED reset pass-through.
Print Lifecycle
- Nozzle heating is deferred until the bed and chamber reach their targets.
- Reworked filament loading and unloading (
baseload.g/baseunload.g) with several bug fixes and UX improvements. - Startup logs are timestamped; heater fault events are recorded.
Calibration & Diagnostics
- Added null guards for the probe pickup position in Probe Calibration.
Fixes
- Fixed the T1 Y-offset sign in the Calibration macros (forward/backward swap).
UI / Messages
- Improved warnings and formatting across macros; simplified fault detection messages.
- Updated PLA/PETG enclosure warnings; LEDs reset on fault clear.
- Renamed
Adjust XU PositiontoAdjust Homing Position.
